For nearly four decades Andrew Masullo has developed a unique, hard-won body of work, resulting in paintings that are both straightforward and complex in their interplays of color and composition. Using unmixed oil paint straight from the tube, Masullo’s work is intuitive and shuns preconceived notions or outside references.  His journey with each painting can last months or even years.  Loathe to comment about his work, Masullo recently shared with us, “what I can say about my paintings is that I continue to rid them of as much bullshit as possible so they come closer and closer to what they were meant to be.”

Masullo's work has been featured in dozens of exhibits, both in the United States and in Europe.  Past solo shows include New York galleries Tibor de Nagy, Mary Boone, and Feature Inc.; Susanne Hilberry in Detroit; Texas Gallery in Houston; and Thomas Ammann Fine Art in Zurich.  His paintings have recently found homes in the permanent collections of The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston and New York's Whitney Museum of American Art, where he was included in its 2012 Biennial Exhibition.  Masullo is a 2011 recipient of a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship.

This is Andrew Masullo's premiere outing with Zevitas Marcus.
